Developing A Clinically Compliant E-Commerce Platform

Thérapie Clinic opened in 2003 and has established itself as Europe’s No. 1 provider of laser hair removal and aesthetic treatments. With over 65 branches, they treat over 625,000 people across 4 countries.

Medihive has worked with Thérapie Clinic since 2017, initially to provide a consolidated booking and e-commerce platform. We have also provided features to facilitate a refer-a-friend system, a loyalty scheme, stock management, and  native iOS and Android apps that are fully integrated via 2-way synchronisation with their existing Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Electronic Point of Sale system (EPOS).

The Challenge

Thérapie wanted to create a full digital transformation of its business, go paperless, and integrate with an existing EPOS and EHR that did not provide the flexibility, features, and functionality needed.

The goal was a digital storefront that provided a fully branded patient experience. It was key that this e-commerce platform would allow them to upsell high-margin consumer products, and to sell aesthetic treatments with subscription-based, flexible payment terms. It also enabled them to reward loyalty and grow their business. One of the biggest challenges was that they operated in 4 countries, with 2 currencies and 5 in-branch EPOS systems. We also had to consider the different health regulations across each of the countries. Off-the-shelf software, such as Shopify, didn’t provide the compliance necessary for Special Category Health Data.

Our Solution

Our platform integrates seamlessly across multiple EPOS and EHR systems. It’s built to transparently handle multiple currencies and guidelines within a single consolidated platform. Which meant, Thérpaie got the exact solution needed. The platform was fully branded and engineered to scale as the business grew – 15 new branches have been opened in recent years.

Because our solutions are built specifically for the health industry, we could provide Thérapie with everything they needed to process clinical questionnaires from their EHR and EPOS systems. Being fully GDPR compliant, alongside our deep understanding of health regulations, meant we could facilitate the safe and secure handling of Special Category Health Data. We developed functionality to introduce new services, such as the “refer-a-friend” system, to underpin their omnichannel approach. Online transactions immediately show up on in-store systems and vice versa. Similarly, the stock management system updates in real-time across two platforms using our integration layer. Additionally, it integrates with their “drop-shipper” to replenish supplies once they reach a certain level.
